Understanding ADHD, its symptoms, and its challenges
ADHD is a complex condition that is often characterized by symptoms across three main categories:
Inattention
Impulsivity
Hyperactivity
INATTENTION symptoms–or having difficulties ‘focusing’, can be challenging to identify because it’s normal to be inattentive or distracted at times. The most common symptoms include disorganization, inability to prioritize tasks, constantly forgetting things, difficulty following directions, and struggling to complete tasks.
IMPULSIVITY refers to behavior(s) in which you do things suddenly without any planning such as speaking without preparing what to say or acting without knowing what to do next. Impulsivity includes having trouble with self-control. For instance, adults with ADHD may have sudden outbursts at work or interrupt others throughout the day due to impulsive tendencies.
HYPERACTIVITY symptoms can sometimes be easy to spot because they relate to physical activities and movements. Those with ADHD often squirm, fidget, and struggle to sit still, and are frequently moving or getting into things. Adults might leave meetings or lectures when it’s inappropriate. Hyperactivity can include difficulty engaging in quiet activities.
The severity and prevalence of the symptoms within these categories can vary from person to person. Back on Track ADHD Coaching focuses on helping its clients with these symptoms.
The Importance of Coaching Services for ADHD and its symptoms
All ADHD symptoms and behaviors are influenced by your neurology. By having detailed knowledge of which parts of the brain are contributing to symptoms and why, an ADHD coach can collaborate with clients to improve the behaviors.
Back on Track ADHD Coaching provides personalized care and attention. By working with an ADHD-trained professional, you’ll have someone in your corner who will meet you where you are. We’ll take the time to understand what you’re hoping to accomplish and provide tailored coaching services to help you overcome hurdles and struggles.

You might not have an official diagnosis of ADHD, but this does not prevent you from working with an ADHD coach. We work with individuals who have ‘symptoms’ of ADHD and have not been diagnosed with it.
Please know, coaching does not involve diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders as defined by the American Psychiatric Association. And, ADHD Coaching is not to be used as a substitute for therapeutic counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, or other professional advice by legal, medical or other qualified professionals. We recommend that if you are seeking counseling or psychotherapy for ADHD, that you seek independent professional guidance as needed. If you currently are under the care of a mental health professional, we recommend that you promptly inform the mental health provider of any coaching relationship that you are currently engaged in such as with the services we provide at Back on Track Coaching PLUS.
